In Memory of Past President and Life Member Mr. Carroll Shultz

Mr. Carroll Edwin "Shultzie" Shultz, 63, of Frederick, died Friday, March 5, 2010, at Frederick Memorial Hospital. Born in Frederick on May 13, 1946, he was a son of Edith L. Mackley Shultz of Frederick and the late Mehrl W. Shultz Sr., who died in 2002.
He was employed for more than 40 years at the Donald B. Rice Tire Co. in Frederick. He was a life member of Independent Hose Co. 1, where he was a past president for two terms, served on various committees and held several offices. He was also a member of the Citizens Truck Co., Loyal Order of the Moose Lodge 371, the Fraternal Order of the Eagles 1067, and was active in the Frederick community. For many years, he was associated with The Great Frederick Fair and worked mostly on the grandstand.
Surviving in addition to his mother is one daughter, Teresa L. Shultz and friend, David Wilcom, of Frederick; one brother, Mehrl W. Shultz Jr. and wife, Crisann, of Frederick; two sisters, his twin, Carolyn E. "Susie" Gordon and husband, Joseph, and Gladys L. "Sissy" Carey and husband, Carlton, all of Frederick; one grandson, Curtis L. West Jr. and wife, Jamie, of Frederick; great-grandson, Curtis Ray West; nephews, Greg Carey and Scott A. Gordon and wife, Amy; one niece, Lori Carey Garner and husband, Charlie; one great-niece, Brandy Garner; and three great-nephews, Chad Garner and Hyatt and Meritt Gordon. He will also be remembered by special friends, Alvin and Ruby Watkins, Traci Watkins, Bob and Phyllis Peddicord, Delmar Speak; and the coffee club friends at the Independent Firehouse.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 9 p.m., Monday, March 8, and 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m., Tuesday, March 9, at Keeney and Basford, P.A., Funeral Home, 106 E. Church St., Frederick. Funeral services will be held at noon Wednesday, March 10, in the Etchsion Memorial Chapel of the funeral home. The Rev. Dr. W. Phillip Fogarty will officiate. Interment will be in Mount Olivet Cemetery, Frederick.
Honorary pallbearer will be Robert Peddicord, and active pallbearers will be Curtis West, Riggs Shultz, David Wilcom, Alvin Watkins, Scott Gordon and Dewey Foreman.
