At 12:20 in the afternoon, units were dispatched for box alarm 1-8 for the apartment fire at Hickory Hill apartments. Fire arriving Rescue Engine 11, found a 3 story apartment building with smoke showing from the Alpha side second floor. The officer off the Rescue Engine found occupants on both the alpha and Charlie sides that needed to be rescued from windows and balconies. Chief 1-1 arrived to establish the command and requested the rapid intervention dispatch. Ambulance 19 grabbed a ladder off the Rescue Engine and made the rescue on the Alpha side for one occupant hanging out of a window in the fire apartment. Engine 12 arrived to take 4th due position on side Charlie and stretched the 300' line and ladders to the Charlie side to make the rescues off the rear balconies. The crew from the Rescue Engine made entry to find a kitchen fire on the second floor. The fire was knocked down and placed under control within 5 minutes. Command held the assignment to the first alarm and cleared the RIT dispatch. Great job to all for the quick fire attack and rescues!!
