Looking for something to do in your spare time. Why not volunteer at you local fire department. The Independent Hose Company is Maryland's oldest Volunteer Fire Company. While rich in tradition, we are also a progressive modern volunteer fire department. We run on average 6,000 calls a year. Several membership opportunities exist such as operational Firefighter, Emergency Medical Technician, and the Technical Rescue Specialist. We also encourage those who want to serve their community to apply for our associate membership.
