Around 7:30 in the evening, Company 1 and other city units were alerted for a house fire in the Hillcrest area. Engine 11 arrived on the scene with fire showing from the second-floor bedroom. For the safety of the firefighters entering the building, a rapid intervention dispatch was sent immediately. Engine 11 crew advanced a hose line through the garage to the second floor. Fire was starting to extend into the hallway from the bedroom, when extinguishment was accomplished quickly by Engine 11. The occupant closed the door to the bedroom before leaving, which saved the rest of the house. Other city units who responded, performed search and rescue, ventilation, and overhaul. During the search, 2 dogs were saved and 1 occupant was treated for smoke inhalation. The members of company 1 are thankful everyone got out and for the limited fire extension saving the majority of the home.
