As many of you are already aware yesterday volunteer technician Michael Powers suffered a medical emergency while operating on scene of a PIC on Liberty Road. Technician Powers received treatment immediately from the providers on scene and was rapidly transported to FMH where he succumbed to his medical emergency. Technician Powers' remains were transported last night at approximately 1730hrs for autopsy, he was escorted by units from station 17.

The officers and members of the Independent Hose Company wish to express our deepest, heartfelt condolences to the Powers family, to the officers and members of Company 17, and friends and family that have been affected by this tragic loss. Rest easy sir, we'll take it from here.

Service Arrangements

The Celebration of Life Ceremonies will be held this weekend.

Viewing: The family will receive friends on Friday, June 28, 2019 from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department, 12027 South Street, Libertytown, MD 21762.

Service: A Celebration of Mike's life will follow on Saturday, June 29, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Glade Cemetery in Walkersville.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Libertytown Volunteer Fire Department, P.O. 33, Libertytown, MD 21762.
